PAKISTAN LAHORE TAX BAR ASSOCIATION VISITS ISTANBUL BAR ASSOCIATION

Pakistan Lahore Tax Bar Association Vice-President Ashiq Ali Rana and Former Secretary-General Abdul Waheed accompanied by a Pakistani lawyer Shafiq Saeed paid a visit to Istanbul Bar Association at 14.00 on Monday, November 25, 2019. The delegation was welcomed by Atty. Sinan Naipoğlu, Board Member of Istanbul Bar Association, and Atty. Memet Kaya, Chair of the Administrative and Tax Law Commission of Istanbul Bar Association.  Atty. Dilek Yumrutaş, Vice-President of the Commission, Atty. Zehra Yılmaz Işıloğlu, Secretary General of the Commission and Prof. Dr. Nihal Saban were in attendance during the meeting.

Informing the delegation on the structure of Istanbul Bar Association and its commissions and center as well as the conditions for admission to legal profession and the election procedures of the bars in Turkey, Board Member Naipoğlu expressed their pleasure to host the delegation within the premises of Istanbul Bar Association.  

Ali Rana and Abdul Waheed emphasized that Lahore Tax Bar Association would highly appreciate a cooperation to be established between Istanbul Bar Association and Lahore Bar Association, being the biggest city bar association in Pakistan with its 6000 members, which would enable the organization of joint workshops and conferences on tax law and which would also include a bilateral memorandum of understanding to be signed. Underlining that this cooperation would provide a ground to learn from each other both for Turkish and Pakistani lawyers through the exchange of information and best practices, the delegation expressed that tax system in Turkey serves as a good model for them and it would be beneficial not only for the tax lawyers in Pakistan, but also for Pakistani people being the beneficiaries of vital outputs, such as health and education, of taxes paid by the tax-payers,  if Istanbul Bar Association were engaged in information sharing with them concerning extension of tax base, regulation of tax ratios, development of tax-friendly financial policies and increasing the state revenues through the efficient collection of taxes.

Board Member of Istanbul Bar Association Atty. Sinan Naipoğlu and Chair of Administrative and Tax Law Commission of Istanbul Bar Association Atty. Memet Kaya rendered their positive remarks on establishing such a cooperation with Lahore Tax Bar Association, which would enable information and experience sharing.
